Does it have any different effect if you sing the words rather than speak? I mean sing words you want to say or ask a question to a tune she knows. Or maybe she wouldn't like you changing the words..... My thoughts and prayers are with you and I hope you can find the key to unlocking her potential for communicaring and allowing her to let you know all she knows. I think you will be amazed! Find a way for her to tell you "I screamed because I couldn't tell you anything, or I screamed because I liked the sound" or whatever. I think my most difficult thing would be in wanting to understand her behavior as communication.pianoroxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08139453264320054691noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5441989712918579133.post-89834665284486287152014-07-25T15:42:03.684-04:002014-07-25T15:42:03.684-04:00Ever tried sign language with her? Although from what you just wrote she sounded very much like that girl Carly. She didn't want anything to do with typing her words, it took a lot of work from her therapists. She had to work for it. As much as it's painful to recommend. You know she loves chocolate, why don't you give her a M&M every time she types something on the iPad. If she doesn't type. No M&M. At first it would probably be hell. And no doubt she will scream first couple times. But it's worth trying for like a month. We tried this with Age except she just won't eat, she doesn't "feel" hungry and when she was like 16 and 50lbs, almost died, it became clear we never used food as reward. She's still only 95lbs. Loves to eat except goes on these food kicks and if all of a sudden we don't have what she needs to eat on these kicks, she will just starve herself not realizing it. It's bad. Anyways try like a reward system with her and typing if you haven't yet. Might help.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00414450699633308463noreply@blogger.com
