These kids matter. Their lives matter. I was always so disappointed in the center where I took my son for early intervention because sometimes it seemed like the only "wins" they celebrated were the ones where kids were made more "normal." I'm not sure if that makes sense, but I often still find myself yearning for not even larger society, but even those closest to people with disabilities to accept and love them EXACTLY as they are, regardless of how much they might "improve" in the future.
