I always ask stupid questions to see if is really listening or just giving me a "yes" or "no" to make go away. If she ate a pizza I'd ask her if just she ate a burger or a dog. Her "yes" tells me she's not listening to me.

I've always wondered about summer camp because I've never met anyone who went to one where I was growing up in Indiana. I seen movies and TV shows about them but I don't recall a single kid saying that's what they did for summer. Where we live now in the west/central part of Texas only a fool would brave the searing heat and lack of decent shade trees in the summer months. A couple of weeks ago, this fool went to the local state park and was able to surprise four deer because there were so few people around to make them jumpy. When I called, they said she would have to be able to participate in group activities, follow basic instruction and be able to use the potty with minimal assistance. I was like... Okay, NEXT...;). The options are limited. This year us our first summer camp at the YMCA Special Needs program - and the first one that my daughter (age 10) seems to really enjoy (although I am speculating, bc- that whole communication issue =)). I live in S Florida but used to live in MA (Plymouth) -- the options really were so much more limited up there then they are here. I couldn't find a single program there that would take her - here there are a few options.
Oh, if I only could win the lottery =). Bless you - thank you for sharing your journey with us!HaydensMamahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02955675199318133634noreply@blogger.com
